What Is Freedom Really?

"Freedom Day,  is a South African public holiday celebrated on 27 April. It celebrates freedom and commemorates the first post-apartheid held on that day in 1994.  They were the first national elections in South Africa in which the franchise did not depend upon race."

Lets look at this word 'Freedom'.  What is freedom really?   It could mean many things to different people....

For me freedom means:  freeing yourself from the constraints and prison of your mind, from the boundaries that you have set for yourself, from the illusions that you have created for yourself.

Every day people wake up, they read the newspapers or watch the news focusing on the politics of the world, creating for themselves a world of misery because they think that their lives will only get better and can only be happy if they could change these outside circumstances.  But...they are wrong!

Yes...we have to agree that there is a great deal wrong with the world.  It is not an easy place to live in.

Our world is polluted by problems, we have an 'Environmental Pollution' in all forms - pollution, war, politics, hunger....the list is endless!

Let's look at the word 'Environmental Pollution'.   Do you see the word 'mental' in there?  This is of the 'mind'.  Our world has become mentally polluted!  This means all problems have arisen from the 'mind', and so, all problems can only be resolved by dealing with this 'mind' issue.  And it cannot be done from the outside, only from within.  And it can only happen when we begin to work on our own inner world. Remember, the problem out there is a result of what is going on within...so go within to resolve it...let go of trying to change the situation out there, because, when you shift for the better within yourself, the world around you will shift too!

Happiness is a choice, it's a state of mind, it is not something that can be taken from you without your permission, only you can choose to give it away!   How are you giving your happiness away?  Remember...the actions of others is their responsibility, your response to their action is your responsibility.  So...how do you choose to act in circumstances?  You don't have to become a part of someone else's drama.

Sit down, with pen and paper and make some notes.  What belief systems do you carry that could be disempowering you?  What are your perspectives of people and the world around you?  Remember, everyone has a different perspective, all as a result of upbringing, indoctrination, education etc.  Contemplate these views and you will see that you may have a very skewed perspective of your world.

The truth is...that it is fear that holds you back from happiness, that takes away your freedom.   Examples - fear of rejection, fear of what others think of you, fear of survival.  When we begin to see that these fears are simply a projection of our mind, an illusion, we can begin to change them.

We project our inner world onto the outer world, and the outer world responds simultaneously, it is as simple as that.  There is a constant feedback loop between you and the world.  What you give, you will receive; what you project, you will attract.  Just think about how differently you feel when confronted with a kind and peaceful being, than when confronted by an angry and abusive being?

Know this.  That 'Freedom' can only be achieved when we free our minds from fear. When we shift inside, the world shifts outside.  We have to go to the source of the problem.  When we become better beings, the problems that we have created out there will begin to disappear.  So work at it, work on your inner world.  Try to be a better person each day, stop wishing others were better, you are no better than them yourself if you check.  We all have illusions.  You need to become the catalyst...only you can change your world.

Free Yourself...Free Your Mind!

World Kidney Day - 08 MARCH

The kidneys (about fist sized) are located just below your rib cage on either side of the spine, an adrenal gland sits on top of them.  The kidneys job is to maintain a balance of water and minerals and the acid/alkaline content in the blood.  It acts as a filter for unwanted substances by determining what is good and what is toxic.

Kidney Disease

Chronic kidney disease is a condition in which the kidneys are damaged and cannot filter blood well. This damage causes waste to build up in the body.  Chronic kidney disease, if not treated, can lead to kidney failure, heart disease, heart attack, stroke, hypertension, anemia, bone disease and malnutrition.

Controlling blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol may slow the progression of kidney disease.

Remember two important things to restore health and to cure disease:

1) Toxins - Replace chemical household and body products with natural/organic products. Drink clean water (reverse osmosis).  Drugs damage the kidney.  Avoid sugar, processed foods and bad fats (margarine, canola & sunflower oil).

2) Deficiency - Eat food from the earth, non GMO.   Use natural supplements, avoid coal tar derivative vitamins. Drugs cause deficiency as they rob the body of nutrients.

One rarely feels symptoms in the early stages of chronic kidney disease. Blood and urine tests are the only ways to tell if you have the disease.

There is a variety of foods and herbal teas to help support the kidney.

Addressing Emotional Issues

Excerpts:  Deb Shapiro - Your Body Speaks Your Mind

"In Chinese medicine the kidneys are known as the seat of fear, because the adrenal glands release adrenaline into the body in response to excitement anger, panic, and stress.  The kidneys respond to fear, to unexpressed grief and loss.  At times of kidney difficulties it is essential to find ways to release feelings"

BodyMind Dialogue - If your kidneys have been bothering you ask yourself:

  • Do you need more balance in your life?
  • Can you let go of the past?
  •    Are you worried or anxious about something in your life?

  • Are you holding on to negative feelings - fear, anger, resentment, bitterness?
